REUTERS/Leah Millis WASHINGTON () – US Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen on Wednesday urged the World Bank to develop “clear and ambitious goals” for climate adaptation and the global energy transition, underscoring the importance of such efforts for achieving an energy-neutral future. In a statement to the joint steering committee of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, Yellen strongly condemned Russia’s war in Ukraine and said it had emphasized the consequences of its dependence on fossil fuels. “We must continue to develop and deploy renewable and zero-emission energy and reduce reliance on volatile energy sources,” Yellen said.
