In a statement to the joint steering committee of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank, Yellen strongly condemned Russia’s war in Ukraine and said it had emphasized the consequences of its dependence on fossil fuels. “We must continue to develop and deploy renewable and zero-emission energy and reduce reliance on volatile energy sources,” Yellen said.
